To celebrate St George’s Day at Stamford Court care home, which offers nursing care, they thought they would take advantage of the lovely weather forecasted, by having an outdoor celebration on the decking.
The wellbeing coordinators Vicki and Caitlin decorated the whole home garden with red, white and blue for the occasion! Then they had a music singalong with 50s, 60s, and 70s hits, all day long in the sunshine; Residents loved singing along to what they knew.
One Resident who lives at the home remarked, “Can you play that song again I used to dance to that all night long!”
The home even had a visit from the Queen (in cardboard cut-out form) which Residents found hilarious, they loved watching the Queen and Colleagues dancing and wanted their photos taken with her to show to their families.
A lovely selection of traditional English picnic food was supplied by the kitchen team as well as ice-creams to beat the heat!
“It feels like we've got our own beer garden in our home,” one Resident had said.
Thanks to the generosity of Residents’ family members who donated the contents, Colleagues made 11 hampers - which were raffled off on the day and one of the winners said, “I can't wait to give this hamper to my wife when she visits, it'll be a surprise.”
Sue Jackson, Care Home Manager, commented, “All in all, it was a brilliant day enjoyed by everyone!”
