Staff at Springfield House care home in Gateshead made a Resident’s birthday wish come true as she was reunited with a special furry friend.
Doreen, who is a Resident at Springfield House, recently had family visiting ahead of her birthday celebrations. During the visit, the home’s Receptionist Danielle recognised one of the Relatives and realised that she knew Doreen from years before.
Danielle’s discovery led her to realise that her cat, Toby, who she rehomed a few years ago, used to belong to Doreen before she moved into Springfield House.
Knowing that Doreen loved and missed her cat very much, Danielle decided to give her a framed photograph of Toby as a gift for her birthday, which she was very delighted to receive.
Karen Frew-McGill, Home Manager at Springfield House, said: “Our whole team made every effort to help Doreen celebrate her special day, although nothing could beat the smile on her face when Danielle gave her the photo of Toby. What a lovely surprise it was!”
