Spring has been a month of events, activities and celebrations for everyone to enjoy at
Harnham Croft residential and nursing care home, in Salisbury, and there have been some lovely memories created for all.
On 27th March, Mother’s Day was celebrated at Harnham Croft on a wonderful, sunny Sunday, by delivering lots of gifts from the home and Residents’ families.
Each Resident enjoyed one to one time with the home’s Wellbeing Coordinator, Jenna, and Senior Care Assistants. They were each gifted with a beautifully colourful cactus, box of chocolates, and a card; they were offered to choose which colour cactus they would like.
Lilian, who is a Resident, commented, “What a lovely gift idea, a cactus! They are unusual but lovely and it will look very pleasant on my table.”
Home Manager, Jim Bowie, remarked, “Our ladies had a wonderful day, full of family visits and are overjoyed with their gifts.”
15th April marked an afternoon tea party which was organised by Colleagues Tracey, Jenna, Kelly, Chloe and Wendy, and Residents, Joyce, Rosemary, Linda, Pat, Eric, Lilian, Alison, Gillian and Robert, on a sunny Friday afternoon.
Residents enjoyed arts and crafts themed to Easter, such as Easter bonnet making, this was followed by an afternoon tea consisting of some delicious cake on the patio enjoying the sunshine, chatting and relaxing.
Rosemary said, “It’s wonderful to be out on the patio in the lovely fresh air and the weather is glorious.”

Deputy Manager, Tracey, commented, “It was lovely to see all the Easter bonnets that have been made and what a wonderful, sunny afternoon it has been.”
On 19th April, Mary Carfrae celebrated her 70th birthday, she chose to celebrate by inviting fellow Residents to enjoy a Chinese takeaway for lunch, as it is her favourite!
Jenna organised for Mary, Pat, Linda, Lilian and Gillian, who all live at Harnham Croft, to enjoy a Chinese together in the dining room. Each browsed the menu and chose what they wanted and this as then followed by a lovely cake and afternoon tea, made by the kitchen team.
Mary said, “The Chinese is delicious and so is my birthday cake. Thank you to everyone that made my birthday a day to remember.”
Jim added, “It was lovely to see Mary and the other Residents celebrating Mary’s birthday. She had such a wonderful day.”
Towards the end of the month, on 29th April, Residents enjoyed an afternoon of arts with local artist Charlotte Dooley.
Charlotte visited the home with some of her pictures for inspirations for the Residents to work from, these consisted of nature, including bees, ladybirds, flowers and woodland.
Each Resident chose a picture to use and created their own piece using black paper and chalk. They had a very lovely, creative afternoon.
John, who lives at Harnham Croft, said, “It’s been a lovely afternoon being able to draw again. Thank you to Charlotte for her help.”
Fellow Resident Eileen said, “Chalk isn’t my favourite, but I thoroughly enjoyed using it. I cannot wait till the next art class.”
Charlotte added, “There are some very talented Residents, they all express their creative side differently. They have all done amazingly, their pictures are fantastic!”
