On Wednesday 31st August, Residents, and staff from HC-One’s
Linlithgow care home in West Lothian, attended a very special sporting awards ceremony.
Back at the beginning of August, Residents were thrilled to be taking part in the Senior Sporting Games, which are ran by Erskine, a charity who care for veterans in Scotland.
A dozen teams from care homes across Scotland competed for medals and the John Bowman Trophy. Each home held their own games, including javelin, basketball, and curling, which are scored by independent judges.
Residents Betty, May and Jim went along to the Senior Sporting Games Awards along with Home Manger Gina and Stacey the Wellbeing Coordinator.
As the games were at the beginning of the month, the Residents were eagerly waiting for the awards to find out how well everyone had done.
At the awards ceremony the Residents were treated to a delicious afternoon tea and entertained with some brilliant singing and dancing.
Linlithgow proudly walked away with medals from three categories! Gold medals for stand up javelin throw and bronze medals for both seated and standing ten-pin bowling.
The Residents were over the moon with the wins they received and one of the organisers commented, “Betty’s smile lights up the room!”. It was clear to see how chuffed they all were.
May, remarked, “I didn’t expect to win anything, I am so happy.”
Georgina De'Lara, Care Home Manager, added, “We are very proud of our Residents achievements.”
