Spennymoor care home champions raise awareness in local community HC-One’s Lothian House care home in Spennymoor, County Durham hosted a ‘Champions Day’ for the local community on Friday 3rd May.

The Lothian House ‘Champions’ showcased their work and passion for a variety of subjects which are important when caring for older people, including, infection control, end of life, diabetes, oral health, dignity in dining, mental health, mental capacity, dementia and nutrition. 

Members of the local community were invited to visit Lothian House and learn more about the different topics from the home’s Champions. Representatives from NHS Infection Control, Framwellgate Dental Practice, Healthwatch, Fletchers Funeral Directors and Oral Hygiene Nurses attended the event. 

A group of local children from North Park Primary school came to the home, they were given a guided tour of Lothian House and met the Residents. Spennymoor Town Mayor, Cllr Clive Maddison also come to show support for the home during their event.

Lothian House Home Manager, Jill Carr said: “Well done to our Champions for organising this wonderful event, it was great to welcome so many members of our local community to Lothian House, especially Spennymoor Town Mayor, Cllr Clive Maddison.”
