A special Motown show was performed for Residents at
Swallownest care home, in Sheffield, on 1st June, but this show wasn’t like most others, as it had been specifically requested by one of the Residents, David.
David Rowlett pictured with his wife, is a Resident at the 64-bed residential and nursing care home. From time to time, he likes to partake in the activities at Swallownest, however tends to prefer a calm day watching the television. But recently David asked Colleagues to book a Motown show, which they were thrilled to bring something into the home that they knew he would love.
Many of the other Residents also joined in the lounge to sing, dance and just enjoy a brilliant afternoon with their friends and family who attended to watch the Motown singers from Razzle Dazzle Entertainment.
David absolutely loved the show and so did everyone else! Colleagues said that it was a wonderful feeling to be able to make this happen for David and even more heartwarming that he was able to enjoy the afternoon with all of his family around him.
Janette Myers, Care Home Manager, commented, “Days like this are so important for our Residents, for them to ask for what they like and us to be able to provide that really does mean so much to us, it was wonderful.”
“Everyone loved having a dance and a sing along to some of their favourite old songs!”
