Residents were delighted to finally see some snow this weekend at HC-One’s The Red House care home in Ramsey, Cambridgeshire.
The cold weather resulted in a nice layer of snow so Colleagues jumped at the chance to brave the chill and build a smiling snowman to peek in at Residents sitting in the lounge.
A carer at the home said: “It was very cold but worth the effort for the Residents.”
Colleagues used their new snowy friend as an opportunity to reminisce with Residents as they all watched the chilly weather with a warm cup of tea.
One Resident commented: “What a lovely idea from the staff!”
Residents spoke about years past when snowfall was more frequent and lasted for days or even weeks at a time.
They swapped stories about homemade sledges, building snowmen and snowball fights that they used to have with their loved ones.
The Red House Home Manager, Keith Ware, said: “It’s nice to see staff making the most of these little opportunities to brighten the Residents’ day.
“Such a simple idea with a big impact."
