Skewen care home celebrates 20 years of serviceHC-One’s Cwrt-Clwydi-Gwyn care home in Skewen, Neath is celebrating twenty years of service to the local community.

Cwrt-Clwydi-Gwyn opened its doors on 11th August 1998 to provide care and support for members of the local community. Today, the home provides a welcoming and comforting atmosphere for those who require residential and memory care.

In honour of the home’s anniversary, the team planned a special 1920s-themed party with live performances from the very popular Mark Evans-Byard, the Ukulele Band ‘Oh no.. It’s the Lodgers’ and a newly formed jazz dance group of local 7 - 15-year-olds.

To get everyone in the spirit of the day, a host of delicious dishes, including deviled eggs, sausage with mash and pineapple upside down cake were served. Special cocktails were concocted in homage to the era, the favourite of the day was cheekily named ‘Slippery Nipple’ which included gin, vodka, lime and lemonade.

The team at Cwrt-Clwydi-Gwyn who never miss an opportunity to dress up embraced their inner Gatsby and dressed in their finest vintage flapper dresses.

Eunice Pearce, aged 91, who recently moved to Cwrt-Clwydi-Gwyn commented that she had so much fun celebrating with the care team and her fellow Residents, she also said that she never thought she would dance like that again after she spent her younger years as a very talented ballroom dancer.

Another Resident, Bridget “Elvis” Harding, aged 90 said the celebrations made her feel like she was a young girl again going to the local dance hall.

Cwrt-Clwydi-Gwyn Home Manager, Lianne Hargreaves said:

“It’s an honour to work at a home that has cared for over five hundred members our local community. We had such a lovely with the Residents celebrating this milestone which served as a perfect reminder of the reasons why our team works hard to provide the kindest care for Resident every day.”

Regional Managing Director, Ruth Yates commented:

“I am privileged to be able to recognise the long service that HC-One Cwrt-Clwydi-Gwyn has provided to the local community in the last twenty years. I would like to thank all of my colleagues at the home for their dedication, hard work, and their amazing kindness to Residents every day”.
