Silverwood Care Home pays respects to war heroes at Nottingham Remembrance ParadeResidents at Silverwood Care Home in Nottingham paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the war at the local Remembrance Parade, which marked 100 years since the end of the First World War.

A number of the Residents expressed a wish to attend the Remembrance Parade and were joined by Silverwood employees as they walked down to the Cenetaph for the ceremony.

The Residents, who attended the event wearing their poppies and holding British flags, watched the local air cadets, army cadets and veterans complete their parade and lay their wreaths as a mark of respect.

The Residents commented: “It was an honour to take part in the parade as we remember those affected by the war during this special anniversary.”

Debra Meynell, Home Manager at Silverwood Care Home, said: “Our Residents were very passionate about attending the parade, especially as it marked the 100 year anniversary of Armistice Day. It was a very emotional experience for all of our Residents and employees who attended the ceremony.”
