Shropshire Care Home Celebrates Burns Night with a Heartfelt CelebrationPriorslee House Care Home in Shropshire recently celebrated Burns Night in style, welcoming residents, relatives, colleagues, and members of the local community to mark this special occasion.

Guests enjoyed a delightful range of food and drinks, including Scottish treats such as Scottish Tablet, Shortbread, Whisky, and Irn-Bru. The evening’s meal featured a traditional Scottish favourite: Haggis, Neaps, and Tatties, providing a true taste of Scotland for all.

The highlight of the evening was a live performance by the talented bagpiper, Stuart Mileham, who serenaded the crowd with a variety of Scottish tunes. The performance included the iconic Auld Lang Syne, where the audience joined in for a heartwarming sing-along.

A special moment of the evening was dedicated to Bill Stuart, resident at Priorslee House. Originally from Scotland and a proud veteran of the Armed Forces, where he served for over 35 years in the Royal Signals, Bill was honoured with a personal performance of Flowers of the Forest, a song with deep emotional significance for many Scots. Bill was visibly moved by the tribute, saying, "Oh, what a day, brilliant."

Jess Stokes, Resident Liaison Manager at Priorslee House, said:
“What a fabulous way to celebrate Burns, for all our residents, but particularly    touching for those with Scottish heritage.”

The Burns Night celebration was a heartwarming reminder of the importance of culture, tradition, and community, and Priorslee House looks forward to continuing to create meaningful experiences for residents and their families.
