Residents at Acacia care home in Sherwood, Nottingham joined together to celebrate Diwali.
Diwali, which is also known as the festival of lights, is a religious observance spanning over five days that is commemorated by Hindus, Sikhs, Jains and some Buddhists.
Colleagues at Acacia arranged an amazing spread of traditional Indian foods, including samosas, onion bhajis and sweets, which were enjoyed by Residents and their loved ones visiting the home.
Residents also celebrated Diwali by looking at different clothing, including Sarees and traditional men’s suits. Some Residents even tried on the clothing and admired the embroidery and beading of the materials.
The celebrations were a great success, as Resident Carol even said: “It makes me feel so special wearing the Saree.”
