Swallownest Care Home and Alexander Court Care Home came together recently for an afternoon on a Narrow Boat. Our two homes met at Swinton Lock and after introductions we boarded our vessel.
Residents from either home had never met before but it wasn’t long before they were all chatting away to each other.
They all loved watching the ducks with their baby’s and the passing boats had us all waving.
The crew were fantastic and pointed out points of interest to us as we passed.
A kettle was already boiling for us on the hob so without hesitation we made our cups of tea and coffee and started serving the buffet lunch.
After lunch we stood on the end of the boat watching the lock fill up and chatted to the crew and even enjoyed a sing song.
“What a perfect afternoon” said Joyce one of our resident’s and what lovely memories we have made.
All too soon our boat journey came to an end and we had to say goodbye to our new friends.
As we left the boat yard we booked another date so that even more residents can enjoy this lovely outing.
