September roundup at Charters CourtThroughout September at Charters Court in East Sussex, which provides residential, nursing and residential memory care, a number of activities have taken place.

As Charters Court continues to welcome entertainers back into the home (performing in garden still), the great Brian Howard returned and performed on his keyboard. He played the beautiful golden oldies songs that all the Residents really enjoy, they were singing along and dancing which got the home in great spirits. Drinks and snacks were also served, which were well received by everybody.

Another entertainer who performed at Charters Court this month was the fantastic Gabriel who plays the accordion. He played a variety of music which also got the Residents singing along and dancing. Residents afterwards commented on how happy they were after the entertainers had performed, and really enjoyed singing along with the music.

Residents were also treated to a couple of days out this month and enjoyed some of the nice weather. The first trip was to Ashdown Forest, where Colleagues and the Residents took in the beautiful scenery. The van pulled up at a lovely spot and a family of sheep even stopped off and rested next to the van. Everybody stopped off here for lunch and played some games, some of the animals also came over and had a look around.

Speaking with the Residents afterwards, they expressed how they enjoyed seeing the animals and enjoyed the fresh forest air. One Resident commented “It was lovely to get the fresh air and we were excited to see the animals in their natural environment”.
The next trip Residents went on was an outing to Hedgecourt Lake, where they were able to feed the swans and other birds. It was another lovely opportunity to see the Swans and Geese in their natural environment, which is what was liked most by everybody who went on this trip. After visiting the Hedgecourt, the bus stopped off at East Court for a glass of sherry/soft drinks, chocolates and some other snacks, then enjoyed a nice walk around the park.

Melanie Wrightman, Care Home Manager said “It has been really nice to be able to welcome entertainers back here and Residents have looked really happy with their day trips”.
