Seabrooke Manor welcomes local community for poetry afternoonResidents and Colleagues at HC-One’s Seabrooke Manor care home welcomed pupils from the local Loxford school as they enjoyed a ‘poetry together’ tea party.

The pupils read out a poem by Maya Angelou, titled “When you see me sitting quietly” before chatting with Residents about their own school days, which delighted Residents as it meant they could reminisce about their childhoods, discussing their family lives together and comparing them to life nowadays.

The home were delighted to receive a certificate of participation, alongside a copy of “Dancing in the light of the moon”, signed by author Gyles Brandreth.

Residents were so pleased to have received the certificate and poem book, and were glad to have welcomed the local school children to the home.

Gladys Chibanda, home manager, commented: “It was great to see the Residents so pleased when they saw the school pupils in the home, everyone engaged so well with one another.”
