This month at The Red House care home, in Huntingdon, Residents and Colleagues have been incredibly busy doing everything from Christmas festivities preparation to looking after the animals.
The Red House has had animals for several years which are looked after by everyone on site.
A new Resident, who recently came to live at the home, has a love of animals and often talks about his past work in building trade and as a greenkeeper. He asked if he could look after the animals at the home, as he came over to the main house daily. HE now looks after approximately 50 fish, 3 rabbits and 2 guinea pigs. He feeds them, cleans the hutches and then stays for a coffee with the Manager; it has become quite a regular routine!
Everyone has commented on how he is, “in his element” and he now has a new nickname of ‘Yogi’ which was used in his younger working days!
This week the festivities have also began at the home when the local motorbike club attended the home as part of their yearly rounds. Dressed up as Santa Claus, they brought presents including sweets and biscuits for everyone at the home.
This follows a chance meeting a couple of years ago when Residents attended a local motorbike meeting in Ramsey which has formed a great relationship ever since.
Residents enjoyed the visit and helped to take the pictures.
Residents John and Frank agreed, “Lovely, love the bikes.”
Home Manager, Keith Ware, commented, “It was great to see everyone again this year. Lovely community involvement is truly appreciated.”
