Sandon House travels back in time with Ordsall Hall visitSandon House care home in Tameside took a step back in time with a visit to 800-year-old manor house, Ordsall Hall.

Residents enjoyed exploring the building, which is the former home of the Radclyffe family, as they discovered the different rooms and admired the beautifully carved furniture.

After their adventure, Residents were treated to a feast of bread and wine in the Great Hall, before truing on some Tudor-style costumes.

At the end of the tour, everyone had a final walk round the gardens, which featured a herb garden and a number of spectacular sculptures.

Rita, a Resident at Sandon House, commented: “What a fantastic day! It was really interesting to learn about how people lived and what kind of foods they ate in the 1500s.”

Lynne Campbell, Home Manager, said: “At HC-One, we organise a variety of exciting events which allow Residents to experience different activities outside of the home. The trip to Ordsall Hall really put a smile on everyone’s faces as they got to experience what life was like as a Tudor.”
