Royally good party as Resident celebrates 100 years at Eckington care homeCelebrations were in full swing at April Park care home in Eckington as Resident Harry marked his 100th birthday, surrounded by loved ones, fellow Residents and staff members.

Harry’s special day began with him receiving a telegram and card from the Queen, before staff presented him with his birthday present – a Sheffield United Football Shirt. Harry was overwhelmed with his gift, as he has supported Sheffield since he was a little boy.

Staff also arranged a special birthday party for Harry, where he was joined by family, friends and fellow Residents. Everyone enjoyed a performance from a singer entertaining at the home, before Harry received a visit from the Royal British Legion, who gave him a birthday to remember.

Harry was also presented with a specially-designed birthday cake, which was personalised to look like a football pitch.

Gail Wardle, Home Manager at April Park, said: “The whole team was delighted to arrange such a fantastic party to celebrate Harry’s 100th birthday.

“It was lovely to see Harry enjoying his party surrounded by loved ones. His face really lit up when staff presented him with his card from the Queen.”
