Ringway Mews Residents travel back in time at East Lancashire RailwayResidents at Manchester-based Ringway Mews care home joined together for an exciting journey on the East Lancashire Railway.

The trip involved a ride on the railway, which travels 12.5 miles between Heywood in Greater Manchester and Rawtenstall, with fish and chips for all Residents and staff on the return journey.

Residents particularly enjoyed the journey back in time, as the stations featured a 1930s appearance and railway staff were dressed in clothing from the decade.

One Resident commented: “I thoroughly enjoyed the day out. The train ride was amazing and brought back so many beautiful memories.”

Heather Pickup, Home Manager at Ringway Mews, said: “The trip to the East Lancashire Railway really put a smile on our Residents’ faces, as they thoroughly enjoyed travelling back in time to the 1930s.”
