Residents treat Care Assistant to a baby showerOn Saturday, Residents and the team at HC-One’s Grampian Court Care Home in Peterlee helped Care Assistant Sian Young celebrate her upcoming arrival by holding a baby shower.

Everyone decorated the lounge on the Symphony Unit with banners, hanging decorations and balloons to mark the occasion. Head Chef, David Rodgers, and Head of Service, Laura Stevenson, had been busy in the kitchen preparing beautiful cakes for the afternoon tea.

Residents and visitors who wished to attend gathered in the lounge at 2pm for the event. Laughter rang out through the home when everyone got involved in the baby related games.

Baby Bingo, which worked in the same way as a traditional game but with baby related words instead of numbers, was won by Gwen Wood when she managed to get the first single line and Enid Watson went on to win the full house.

Two ladies, Ivy Cooper and Elvin Hewitson volunteered to take part in Dress the Baby with Ivy taking the crown.

Everyone had a great day; they wish Sian all the best and can’t wait to meet the new arrival.

Resident Irene Harrison commented:

“Sian is looking really well and is in full bloom, I can’t wait to meet the new arrival!”

Grampian Court’s Senior Lead, Andrea Huntington commented:

“Sian is a valued member of our team of Care Assistants and it was great that she wanted the Residents to attend her baby shower.”
