Residents throw leaving party for knitting superstar volunteerHC-One’s Springfield House Care Home in Low Fell, Gateshead say goodbye to knitting superstar, Sue Jackson.

Sue has volunteered her knitting skills for the past three years but due to family commitments, she can no longer visit the home.

The ladies from Knit and Knatter gave Sue a brilliant send off, with lots of cake, fruit, laughter and chocolate – the perfect afternoon.

Over the years, Sue has helped Springfield House make hundreds of blankets for the small baby unit at the Q.E. Hospital, as well as plenty of other projects along the way.

She will be greatly missed as she has become a good friend to the staff, families and the Residents.

Sue commented with a smile on her face:

“Knitting keeps me from unravelling. I have enjoyed every minute of my time at Springfield.”

Springfield House’s Home Manager, Trish Starr commented:

“Sue will always be part of the Springfield family and is always welcome.”
