Residents take a trip back in time to Stephenson’s Railway MuseumResidents from HC-One’s Eastbourne House Care Home in Whitley Bay, Tyne and Wear enjoy a trip back in time visiting Stephenson’s Railway Museum.

Beatrice Smith, Sylvia Parr, Len and Norma Watkinson, Leo Ray, Celia Blair, Mildred Heatley, Eric Brown, Bill Dale and Penny Dirkx all re-lived the days of the steam railway at the museum in North Shields.

As well as looking at all of the exhibits, everyone boarded a steam train where they headed to Pelaw train station on a half an hour return trip.

This was a really memorable trip for everyone, especially Leo, a train and railway enthusiast, who commented:

“As an ex Railway Area Manager it was great to smell the old trains, grease and the wood in the carriages.”

Eastbourne House’s Home Manager, Debbie White commented:

“The Residents had a great time and couldn’t wait to tell the others all about their trip.”
