Residents relive their youth with special dance night at Whitley Bay care homeResidents at HC-One’s Eastbourne House care home in Whitley Bay took a trip down memory lane when members of the team recreated a night at a former local ballroom on Friday 29th November.

After hearing fond memories from several Residents who enjoyed many nights dancing at the Empress Ballroom, which is now a local dining and leisure centre called Spanish City, the team decided they wanted to recreate a night at the dances for all to enjoy.

Everyone put on their best outfits and came together for a night of dancing and reminiscence, the team decorated the lounge like a ballroom and created reminiscence packs filled with pictures of the Empress Ballroom.

Live entertainment was provided by ‘The Legends of Swing’ who performed songs from famous artists such as Frank Sinatra, Matt Monroe and Nat King Cole. Residents enjoyed singing and dancing the night away, one Resident is a keen jitterbug dancer and everyone cheered as he showed off his moves.

Sylvia Parr, a Resident at Eastbourne House said: “Getting to put on my best clothes and have a dance was great. I loved to go to the ballroom dancing.”

Debbie White, Home Manager at Eastbourne House said: “I would like to thank the team for organising such an incredible and thoughtful evening, the smiles on everyone’s faces really said it all.”
