Residents raise a glass at pub opening in Birmingham care homeHC-One’s Perry Locks care home in Birmingham has opened its very own pub called Brooklyn Arms for Residents and visitors to enjoy.

Residents have enjoyed lending a helping hand in the designing, decorating and furnishing of the pub, it has also encouraged everyone to reminisce about happy memories from their younger days in the local pub. 

Items have been collected from far and wide sites including the bar, stools, optics and a football table. Local public house, Drakes Drum have kindly offered to sponsor the Brooklyn Arms and have provided bar mats, snacks and soft drinks to give help create a real pub atmosphere. 

The grand opening of Brooklyn Arms was held at Perry Locks on Friday 24th August where House Manager, Mae Lacson performed the official ribbon cutting ceremony. 

The Brooklyn Arms will be open to all every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 3 pm till 4:30 pm. The pub is an ideal place for Residents to socialise together or spend quality time with loved ones like they used to in their local pub.

The pub is already proving to be a popular social spot within the home, with Residents commenting:

“I enjoy having a pub, hearing people enjoy themselves and love having my half a shandy.”

“It gets Residents together, away from the television so we can all socialise.”

“Brilliant idea, the barman is like a brother to me.”


Perry Locks Home Manager, Rebecca Bristow said:
