Residents of Consett care home chug over to the Locomotion MuseumResidents of Greenways Court, residential and residential dementia care home in Consett, take a trip down the Locomotion Museum, to look at the train exhibition.

The Locomotion Museum, based in Shildon, County Durham is a fantastic transport museum based in the world’s first railway town. There are many things to do at the museum, there are plenty of activities and old steam trains to explore.

Irene Dewar, John Foreman, Rena Adamson and Maureen Urwin, hopped on the minibus and made their way to the museum.

They had a brilliant time looking around all of the trains and chatted to lots of the staff members about the trains. They met a very special man who used to be a skydiver and the Residents had a lovely long chat with them.

The Residents then had a lovely spot of lunch in the café before heading back home.

It was a brilliant day out and all the Residents had a lovely morning learning all about the trains.

John said, “I remember being a young lad and travelling on one of these trains.”

Kinga Kowaliczek, Care Home Manager, remarked, “Everyone was in awe of the snow ploy train at how big it was, no one could remember seeing one before. They all had a great day out.”
