Residents make new furry friends at Glenrothes care homeOn Tuesday HC-One’s Balfarg Care Home in Glenrothes, Fife, was visited by some new furry friends courtesy of Alison from Eden’s Garden Animal Display and Handling of Broughty Ferry.

Many of the Residents were really excited to see these lovely, cuddly animals at close quarters and to be able to handle them. Eden Garden’s animals are all rescue animals, deserted or unwanted pets.

In total Alison has 144 at the moment, she has recently acquired two Shetland ponies which Balfarg hope will be able to visit them soon.

During the afternoon Michelle Kinmount, Area Director, popped into Balfarg and was amazed at how well the Residents interacted with the animals and how much enjoyment they got from the experience.

Gillian Harris, Team Leader, commented:

“It was lovely to see so many of our Residents engaging with the animals, especially those wouldn’t normally join in with social activities.”

Residents all loved the fact that they were able to stroke the animals and able to see them so clearly.

Hilda commented:

“Getting to hold the white rabbit took me back to when I was a wee girl and had pets of my own.”

Sharon Watson, Home Manager at Balfarg, commented:

“This is the first time that Eden’s Garden has visited the home but I certainly hope that they will come back.
The Residents had a wonderfully relaxed afternoon, stroking the animals appeared to calm them and it was lovely to watch.”
