Residents have fun in their very own Great Oldham Bake OffResidents have been baking up a storm at HC-One’s Avalon Park care home in Salem, Manchester.

When Joyce, a Resident at the home, asked if she could bake some cakes, Colleagues and a handful of Residents thought it was a superb idea and decided they would love to get involved as well.

Joyce and the other Residents whipped up a batch of cake batter, having fun and swapping old baking stories as they got messy in the kitchen.

Once golden brown, Residents left their cupcakes to cool before beautifully decorating them. They were one step closer to finally being able to eat their treats but Residents waited very patiently as their decorations set.

After a short wait, everyone tucked into their cakes, with one Resident exclaiming: “It tastes so good!”

Residents had a wonderful afternoon playing Great British Bake Off and can’t wait to do some more baking as soon as possible. Many hope baking will become a new regular activity for them.

Avalon Park Home Manager, Aimee Green, commented: “Choice and fun is the order of the day at Avalon Park. This is great example that everything is considered for activities.”
