Residents get into the Christmas spirit at Stanley care homeHC-One’s Stoneleigh Care Home in Stanley, County Durham, opened their doors to local bell-ringing group and friends to Resident Averil Lee, for a festive performance.

Averil’s friends from her local church visited the home to ring their bells for the Residents, the home was filled with excitement awaiting their arrival and Averil was over the moon to see them.

They brought along song sheets so that everyone could join in and in true festive fashion, all of the songs were Christmas carols. Everyone enjoyed singing along and clapped and cheered at the end of each carol.

At the end of the show, Averil joined in with her friends by ringing her own hand bells, much to the other Resident’s delight.

Averil commented:

“It was lovely to see my friends to join in with the ringing.”

Susan Dodds, Home Manager at Stoneleigh, commented:

“It was so moving to see Averil joining in at the end, she thoroughly enjoyed herself.

I enjoyed the performance as much as the Residents, we’d love them to all come back again and visit us.”
