Residents enjoy the grand opening of Brandon House’s new The Squirrel pub

HC-One’s Brandon House care home in Coventry was delighted to officially open its new bar, The Squirrel.

Created by Colleagues and Residents at Brandon House, the bar was introduced to the home to help stimulate conversations amongst Residents and their loved ones in a relaxing setting.

Colleagues at Brandon House held a competition for Residents to name the bar, with Resident Peggy’s suggestion of The Squirrel being selected as the winning entry by Area Director Katherine Webster.

The bar was officially opened by three familiar faces from the local area: Resident Lawrence Harvey, teammate Brian Nicolas and 80s legend Kirk Stephens, who have all played for Coventry city over the years.

The initiative has already proven a great success in Brandon House, as Residents have enjoyed sitting with their families to enjoy a drink and a pub lunch, with many cheering on their favourite teams as matches aired on TV.

One Resident commented: “We love the bar, it gives us time to enjoy a pint and watch the football on TV.”

Sheryl Davis, Home Manager at Brandon House, said: “At HC-One, we are committed to providing the kindest possible care to enhance our Residents’ wellbeing. The new pub will provide Residents with a nostalgic environment where they can relax and catch up with their loved ones.

“We were delighted to welcome such iconic local dignitaries to officially open The Squirrel and I am sure this will be a very memorable moment for Colleagues and Residents at Brandon House for years to come.”
