Residents enjoy reminiscent morning at County Durham care homeStoneleigh care home in Stanley, County Durham was delighted to welcome local author to the home to talk about World War 2.

Hazel, who decided to begin writing books during her recovery after the tragic death of her son, visited the Residents to tell them about the topic of her books – World War 2 and the Land Army.

When Hazel asked Residents if any of them had been involved in the Land Army or World War Two in general, many hands went up. Residents really enjoyed sharing their memories between each other, taking a keen interest in Hazel’s books.

One Resident commented: “It was really lovely to hear everyone’s different experiences of the war. It brought back many bittersweet memories.”

Susan Dodds, Home Manager at Stoneleigh, said: “The Residents have really enjoyed reminiscing about their lives during the war. It was really interesting to hear about the different duties they had at the time.”
