Residents enjoy oral health talk at Capwell Grange care home
Residents at HC-One’s residential, nursing and dementia care home
Capwell Grange, in Luton, have been receiving tips on improving dental care after a visit from Dental Nurse Barbara.
Advice was provided on a range of aspects of oral care including how to brush teeth and clean dentures properly. Residents at the 146-bed care home also had the opportunity to ask questions and take away free samples of toothpaste and denture packs, which they were very pleased with.
Barbara explained how maintaining oral hygiene can become more challenging as people get older, but by adopting effective practices all can continue to enjoy good dental health. Everyone who attended the talk said they had enjoyed the session and learnt valuable tips for improving their oral hygiene. One of the Residents commented, “Wow I never knew you can use washing up liquid to clean dentures!”
It was a very valuable talk for both Colleagues and Residents, not only informative but great fun for Residents who also enjoyed meeting someone new and chatting about their own experiences.
Nicola, Capwell Grange Home Manager, went on to say, “Everyone enjoyed the session on oral health. Barbara was very friendly and enjoyed answering all the Residents’ questions. We will definitely be recommending this session to other HC-One care homes.”
