Residents enjoy a historical visit to DunfermlineResidents from HC-One’s Balfarg Care Home in Glenrothes, Fife enjoy a day out to Dunfermline.

Before their visit to the Abbey, everyone stopped at Dunfermline Carnegie Library for a spot of lunch. There was a wait for the table due to it being busy, so they used the opportunity to look around the museum.

This proved to be an added bonus as there were loads of items on display that the Residents related to, such as an old ice cream cart, a weaving loom and old bikes. Resident Bill Walker commented:

“I remember when that ice cream card used to come round the streets when I was a boy; it’s so good to be able to reminisce.”

After lunch, the team at Balfarg and the Residents made the short journey to Dunfermline Abbey, which is steeped in Scottish history and everyone found really interesting.

The trip will contribute to the Resident’s History Club where they will look at the history of the Abbey.

Frank Rankin, Resident at Balfarg commented:

“I didn’t think I’d get a chance to go and see Dunfermline Abbey again, it has been a marvellous day out.”
