Residents delight as Blackpool Beach comes to Northwich homeResidents at Daneside Court care home in Cheshire were delighted with a pleasant reminiscence afternoon, with a trip down memory lane to Blackpool Beach.

“If we are unable to visit Blackpool this year, let’s bring Blackpool to the Residents,” One Colleague said.

With the beauty of technology being at our fingertips, the home were able to watch the turning on of Blackpool’s iconic lights. The lounge was decorated with coloured lights, very well-behaved seagulls hanging from the ceiling, sandcastles, fishing nets, seashells and tuckshop memorabilia.

Residents were incredibly happy to wear their historic knotted handkerchiefs on their heads. And to add to the theme, the home hosted a game of Bingo, followed with Fish 'n' Chips for tea sourced from the local chippy Seafarer.

Both Residents and Colleagues had a wonderful time; reminiscing about the amusement arcades and the casual stroll along the shoreline watching the donkeys on the beach front, picking up seashells and making Sandcastles.

Samantha Farahat, Home Manager, encouraged Residents to touch and feel the sand between their fingers, “You can`t beat the feeling of sand between your toes too!”

A lovely afternoon was had by all; they managed to capture the seaside environment, but most importantly, “Seeing the smiles etched upon the Residents’ faces and their willingness to engage in a fun afternoon was just magical in every way.”

Resident Pat Moore commented, “You wouldn’t believe it,” as she watched the Blackpool lights switch on.

Samantha commented, “We had such a lovely time bringing joy to our Residents and reminiscing about Blackpool. It was lovely to capture Residents having such great fun.”
