Residents celebrate 60th wedding anniversary at Redcar care homeResidents and the team at HC-One’s Roseberry Court Care Home in Redcar have been celebrating the 60th wedding anniversary of Brenda Duckworth and her husband Ernie.

Brenda and Ernie were married in 1958 and went on to have a son called Neil. They all lived at Stanley Grove and enjoyed game evenings together, playing Snakes and Ladders, Ludo, Dominoes and card games.

They all enjoyed travelling together, with holidays to Jersey and North Wales being a couple of their favourite places to go.

Sadly, due to ill health, Ernie was unable to attend the party, but that didn’t stop Brenda from having a great time with her family and friends. Her highlight was receiving their card from the Queen, she squealed with joy as she opened the envelope and read the message aloud to everyone.

Brenda commented:

“I can’t believe the Queen sent me a card, how exciting! I absolutely loved our cake, it was just beautiful.”

Roseberry Court’s Home Manager, Alison Corner commented:

“It was so nice to be a part of these celebrations; Brenda was so excited when she opened her card from the Queen.”
