The Residents at
Summerhill care home in Kendal which offers nursing, residential and memory care, for those living with dementia, received thanks from the organisers and the local mayor.
The staff and Residents took part in the preparations for the Kendal Torchlight by creating leaves and flowers from papier-maché a week ago which were then displayed at the annual procession.
As part of saying 'thank you' to the staff and Residents, the organisers treat them all to a performance from one of the dance groups from Kirkbie Kendal School which the Residents thoroughly enjoyed. They also received a visit from the local mayor, Douglas Rathbone who thanked them in person.
One Resident commented on the dance performance, “If only I were slightly younger, I would have joined them!”
Sean Moore from the wellbeing team said, “To be the only care home involved in this year’s procession was a privilege and one we’re really proud of”.
