Residents at Salford care home enjoy MP visit for UK Parliament WeekHC-One’s Pendleton Court Care Home in Salford, Manchester, was visited on Friday, November 22 by Member of Parliament (MP) for Salford, Rebecca Long Bailey during UK Parliament Week.

UK Parliament Week, which takes place from November 18 to 24, 2024. aims to spread the word about what Parliament is and the roles of local dignitaries, what Parliament and local dignitaries do, and how individuals can get involved, act and make an impact on the issues they care about. 

Residents and colleagues of the HC-One owned care home enjoyed meeting MP Rebecca Long Bailey and spoke to her about life at Pendleton Court Care Home – which is an integral part of the Salford community.

Rebecca received a tour around the 58 bedded residential, nursing and residential dementia care home, including the hairdressing salon, dining room, tearoom, lounge, bedrooms and gardens. Rebecca enjoyed meeting colleagues and residents.

The MP for Salford was interested to learn about the recent positive changes at HC-One regarding the company’s investment in colleagues, technology and the environment and funding for Specialist Dementia training for colleagues and community networks. 

Rebecca spent time talking to residents, who were busy making Christmas cards. At the end of the visit, residents presented Rebecca with a Christmas card that they had made, as Rebecca said: “This is my first Christmas card of the year, and I will treasure this.”

In addition to welcoming their local politician, residents and colleagues enjoyed a variety of fun-filled activities for UK Parliament Week. This included taking part in online Q&A sessions, quizzes and lively debates; debating issues and holding votes; creating petitions; holding themed assemblies and council elections; baking and crafting.

Salford’s MP, Rebecca Long Bailey, stated:

“It was a lovely warm welcome at Pendleton Court Care Home again this morning. I had chance to talk politics with some of the fantastic residents, who were also making Christmas cards, and staff including lovely Lesley who has worked there for 14 years. 

“It is clear they care deeply about residents, and manager Anoj is very proud of his team, and he is constantly considering how he can improve facilities for residents. I am very grateful to them for hosting me.”
