Residents at Llys Newydd celebrate Burns Night
Residents at Llys Newydd Care Home enjoyed a traditional Scottish supper with the lounge decorated in blue and white with Scottish flags.

The Haggis was paraded into the room accompanied by a Piper and then Senior Carer Sharon recited the poem by Burns before the ceremonial cutting of the haggis with a knife.

All 34 Residents attended along with Staff and some family members.

Residents were served Cock-a-leekie soup – “Haggis neeps and tatties” – marmalade and whiskey bread pudding – cheese and oatcakes, and everyone had a cheeky tot of whisky!

Well-being Co-ordinator Wendy even dressed up for the occasion!

Resident Gwyn Hughes said
‘It was an amazing night I thoroughly enjoyed myself, food was good and the entertainment was top notch’.

Home Manager Lynwen commented,
"Everyone had a thoroughly good time and enjoyed the ceremony of the Haggis being brought into the room. It was great to see the Residents responding to the Piper whose attendance was quite an occasion for them!"
