Andrew Gwynne, MP for Denton and Reddish and Shadow Minister for Social Care, visited
Greatwood House Care Home in Denton, Greater Manchester on 15th December to join in with the home’s Christmas festivities.
Residents and colleagues of the HC-One owned care home enjoyed meeting Mr Gwynne and chatting to him about what life is like at Greatwood House – which is an integral part of the local Denton community.
Mr Gwynne also got involved with the home’s Christmas hat party and festive arts and craft activity session. He spent some quality time with the residents, helping them with their crafts, and even making a Christmas reindeer of his own, which he then took to Parliament the following week!
Mr Gwynne was welcomed to Greatwood House by Home Manager Odette Lilley, and James Turgendhat, CEO of HC-One, who showed Mr Gwynne around the 60-bed care home and also spoke to Mr Gwynne about key issues in the social care – affecting both the local area and the country as a whole.
Odette Lilley, Home Manager at Greatwood House Care Home, commented:
“We were delighted to welcome Andrew Gwynne MP to our home. Everyone had a great time, chatting and discussing key issues they care about and what actions can be taken to overcome them. It was lovely of Mr Gwynne to join in with our festive activities and spend so much time with our residents.”
Andrew Gwynne, MP for Denton and Reddish and Shadow Minister for Social Care, said:
“I really enjoyed my visited to Greatwood House Care Home, meeting the wonderful staff and residents at the home and joining in with their festivities. The staff do a great job caring for the residents living at the home, and you can see how important it is to them that they are making a positive impact on people’s lives on a daily basis. It was also great to learn more about the home and its role in the community, as well as to have a discussion about issues in the wider social care sector.”
