HC-One’s Godden Lodge Care Home, in Benfleet, Essex, was visited on Friday, November 22 by Member of Parliament (MP) for Castle Point, Dame Rebecca Harris during UK Parliament Week.
UK Parliament Week, which took place from November 18 to 24, 2024, aims to spread the word about what Parliament is and the roles of local dignitaries, what Parliament and local dignitaries do, and how individuals can get involved, act and make an impact on the issues they care about.
Residents and colleagues of the HC-One owned care home enjoyed meeting MP Dame Rebecca Harris and spoke to her about life at Godden Lodge Care Home – which is an integral part of the Castle Point community.
MP Dame Rebecca Harris enjoyed a tour around the 123-bedded residential, nursing and dementia care home, including the hair salon, dining room, lounge, premier bedrooms and gardens. MP Dame Rebecca Harris spent time with one particular resident, Doris Lord, turned 100 years old on Monday, November 25.
Rebecca even brought her a birthday balloon, a bouquet of flowers and card to commemorate her birthday celebrations. In addition to welcoming their local politician, residents and colleagues have enjoyed a
variety of fun-filled activities for UK Parliament Week which were enjoyed by all.
Activities included an online Q&A sessions, quizzes and lively debates; debating issues and holding votes; creating petitions; holding themed assemblies and council elections; baking and crafting.
