Residents at Alloa care home count down the days to Christmas with fun activitiesResidents from HC-One’s The Orchard Care Home in Alloa, Clackmannashire, have enjoyed a fun-filled festive month in the countdown to Christmas.

A church service kicked off the Christmas festivities, with a pamper session and entertainment from Norman Skinner in the first week of December. Towards the end of the week, Residents and Relatives enjoyed a performance of White Christmas by Shoogalie Productions, which was enjoyed by everyone who attended.

Week 2 saw everyone enjoying a festive concert where a group of Residents performed a collection of their favourite Christmas carols to their friends and family members. Hugh Mangon even plucked up the courage to perform a solo of Silent Night, which brought tears and laughter to everyone’s eyes.

The night also saw an award being given to Resident Alison Fleming as well as a bunch of flowers, for her wonderful fundraising efforts over the last few months: over £99 for Children in Need, £95 from Halloween Hampers and the amazing effort she is making at present for the homes Christmas raffle. All money raised has gone to the Resident’s comfort fund.

On Saturday 15th December, Christmas cheer could be heard throughout the home at The Orchard’s annual Christmas fayre, raising an incredible £635.68, with a special visit from Santa himself.

The Residents have all had a great time, commenting:

“We have been so busy and there have been lots of fun things going on.

The pantomime was fabulous and it was so much better than going out to see one. The Choirs are great, excellent singing and so professional.”

Fiona Johnstone, Home Manager at The Orchard, commented:

“The home has been full of laughter and happiness, exactly what we want at this time of the year.

Well done and thank you to everyone who has helped out and participated.”

More fun activities have been arranged in the final lead up to Christmas, with Pollyanna the Pony due to pay a visit and festive parties.
