Resident wins Green Fingers Category in Gardening CompetitionFoxton Court Care Home in Morpeth, Northumberland, is celebrating the work of one of its Residents, Marjorie Moore, who has won first place in the Green Fingers category of the gardening competition, held by HC-One.

Earlier in the year, Foxton Court decided to nominate Marjorie for the Green Fingers category for the HC-One Gardening Competition, recognising those who put in a lot of hard work and dedication into making a space for everyone to enjoy, which is what Marjorie has done.

The team at Foxton Court surprised Marjorie with the news of her success on the morning of Halloween and presented her with a certificate, £200 prize money, a thank you card from everyone at the home and a plaque that will be placed in the garden for everyone to see.

Marjorie is going to spend her prize money on yet more products for the garden and has suggested the idea of starting a herb garden so that the kitchen are able to use the products.

Marjorie commented:

“I am overwhelmed to have even been nominated for the competition, let alone to have won the overall Green Fingers category.

I can’t thank the team at Foxton Court enough for nominating me and I want to make a special thank you to my daughter-in-law Rita who has spent a lot of her spare time helping me in the garden.”

Louise Dey, Deputy Manager at Foxton Court, commented:

“It’s brilliant to see that the hard work of Marjorie and her family has been recognised by others outside of the home.

We are so grateful for the efforts that Marjorie and her family go through to make the garden as enjoyable as possible for everyone, it is such a well-deserved win for her and we are all so proud of her."
