Resident plays piano for first time in 20 yearsHC-One’s Brandon House in Coventry organised a special surprise for Resident Jean Hale who had not touched a piano in twenty years.

On Monday 5th March a piano was brought to Brandon House for Jean, who was overwhelmed with joy when she saw it.

In her younger days, Jean loved to play the piano, she often performed at school concerts and enjoyed playing for her colleagues during her lunch break while working at The Standard Club in Coventry.

Jean was taught to play by George Smith from Kenilworth who visited her weekly, she never used sheet music and learnt to play by ear. She commented that she loved the feeling of playing in front of people, especially watching the children singing along and dancing.

Surrounded by staff and other Residents at Brandon House, Jean performed her favourite tune ‘You Are My Sunshine’ for the first time in twenty years. Her smile lit up the room and everyone watching her play.

Sheryl Davis, Home Manager at Brandon House said:

“It was great to give Jean the opportunity to play the piano again, her face said it all and we all loved listening to her play.”
