Resident overcomes her fear with help from PAT dog BentleyA Resident at HC-One’s Greenways Court Care Home in Consett, County Durham has overcome her fear of dogs with help from PAT dog Bentley and Wellbeing Co-Coordinator, Helen Wallace.

Edna Blair has been nervous around dogs her whole life, but with support and encouragement from Helen and patience and affection from Bentley, the home’s PAT dog, she has now overcome her fear.

She now looks forward to her weekly visit from Bentley and can’t wait to spoil him with cuddles.

Helen helped Edna overcome her fear by introducing her to Bentley slowly to build her confidence, which has now grown enough to let Bentley sit on her knees for endless cuddles.

Edna commented:

“My son George will never believe this when he sees me with Bentley!”

Greenway Court’s Home Manager, Tina Ayton commented:

“Bentley has become part of Greenways family and enjoys receiving all of his treats from the Residents, not to mention countless cuddles.”
