Resident Doris Celebrates her 100th Birthday
Doris Jones, a Resident at HC-One’s Abermill Care Home in Abertridwr, Caerphilly celebrated her 100th birthday with her friends and fellow Residents.

Doris was born in Grangetown but settled in Rudry with her husband Albert who was a Railwayman. Doris spent much of her working life as a Housemaid to a Doctor Davis, a GP in Bedwas, helping him to bring up his four children whilst he was running a busy practice.

Recently Doris was welcomed into HC-One Abermill Care Home at the age of 99 where she has settled in as part of the Home’s community.

To mark the special day, Abermill put on a party for Doris, which was attended by friends, members of the care team, and fellow Residents.

A party buffet was put on along with a fabulous pink and white birthday cake, and the Mayor of Caerphilly John Bevan attended along with Councillors Carl Cuss, Barbara Jones, John Roberts, Mark Harris and John Taylor.

Abermill is currently celebrating a 9.7 average rating on the sector’s leading care home comparison website carehome.co.uk. The high rating puts HC-One homes into the very best company in the care home sector, committed to providing kind care to Residents.

Leah Mort Abermill Care Home Manager, said:
“It was wonderful to see Doris surrounded by fellow Residents and staff for her special birthday as she has no close relatives so we are her family now. I am grateful to the Mayor and other Councillors for joining us to make Doris’s birthday such a lovely occasion”

 Birthday Girl Doris Jones, said:
“I would like to thank everyone who came to see me. I was so excited receiving my card and telegram off the Queen and I really enjoyed the singer going down on one knee and singing to me! I enjoyed all the gifts and flowers and especially my birthday cake. I will never forget my big day.”
