Resident celebrates her 100th birthday surrounded by her loving familyHC-One’s Tenlands Care Home in Ferryhill, County Durham are celebrating the 100th birthday of Resident Ellen Armstrong.

Fabulous Ellen was born at St Helens West Auckland and was one of four siblings, three sisters and one brother. She married Chris in 1944 and enjoyed many years engaging in their passions, dancing and going on holidays.

They went on to have one son, Anthony, who married Pam and had two Grandchildren, Michael and Amanda. Ellen loves spending time with her family and even credits that to her secret of a long life, commenting:

“My secret to a long life is being loved.”

The whole family gathered at Tenlands for a birthday party to celebrate Ellen’s special day, including her two great grandchildren. A large buffet made by Glynis, Chef at Tenlands, was laid out for everyone to enjoy, as well as entertainment.

Ellen received a birthday card from the Queen and a great day was had by all.

Tenland’s Home Manager, Victoria Leighton commented:

“We are so proud to have held this event for such a special lady.”
