Resident celebrates 101st birthday at Beamish Museum Polly Byers, a Resident at HC-One’s Stoneleigh care home in Stanley celebrated her 101st birthday on the 27th March 2018. To mark the special day, staff at Stoneleigh arranged for Polly and fellow residents to spend the day at Beamish Museum in County Durham.

Polly, originally from Stanley, made Stoneleigh her home 7 years ago. Aside from her family, her main passions before moving to Stoneleigh included knitting, reading, having her hair done and attending church on a Sunday.

Polly, John, Genia, Mary and staff from Stoneleigh spent the day at Orchard Cottage which is at Beamish Museum’s 1940s Farm. The celebrations included afternoon tea, playing traditional games and enjoying a sing-along around the piano.

Linda, Ruth and Karen at Beamish Museum ensured it was a special and memorable day for everyone involved. Polly thoroughly enjoyed her birthday cake and was delighted with the birthday presents she kindly received from Beamish Museum.

Polly Byers, Resident at Stoneleigh Care, said:

“It was wonderful spending time together with great company and singing along to my favourite songs.  It really was a very special day.”
