Resident at Redesdale Court who is 102 years old experiences McDonald’s Drive Thru for the very firsOne Resident at Redesdale Court in North Shields which offers residential and residential memory care, for those living with dementia, experienced a visit to a McDonalds Drive Thru whilst on their way to the Blythe coastline.

The minibus arrived at Blyth McDonald’s Drive Thru where Alan the bus driver ordered four Caramel McFlurry’s through the speaker system.  The Residents were amazed by this and also amazed that the order was then collected through the window!

One Resident remarked, “It was like something from the American movies”.

One Resident in particular, Hilda who is 102 years old had never been to McDonald’s in all those years of her life and couldn't believe that we could drive around and pick something up through a window.

The Staff and Residents then drove to Blyth River where Hilda was given a Caramel McFlurry.  Hilda was unsure if she would like it, however moments later Hilda and the other three Residents were happily tucking into their tasty treats and said they were lovely, which proved McDonald’s McFlurry’s were a definite hit with the Residents!

Daniel Ridley, Care Home Manager, "Great to see our Residents experiencing something new".
