Resident’s 90th Birthday surprise at Redesdale CourtJoan one of the Residents at Redesdale Court in North Shields which offers residential and residential memory care home, was reminiscing about her younger years when she use to live on a farm with her husband near London and go to Regent’s Park and show her horses.

With Joan’s 90th birthday approaching, the Colleagues at Redesdale Court thought it would be a lovely surprise to have Joan around horses again.

The team tried to arrange a horse to come to visit the home but with no joy, so they contacted their local stables and arranged for Joan to visit.

The kitchen staff kindly gave them some apples to take and off they went to the stables.

Joan was greeted by the horses and was able to feed and pat them and Joan was so happy she even kissed one of the horses.

Joan was asking questions about the age of the horses and when she was took into the arena, she was fascinated by the indoor equestrian facility facility and loved watching the horses canter around.

Joan commented, “I loved my horse called Justin".

Daniel Ridley, Care Home Manager said, "Fantastic example of person-centred care and outstanding practice".
