Reminiscence for Residents at Gittisham Hill HouseResidents at HC-One’s Gittisham Hill House care home enjoyed an afternoon of reminiscence as they received a pack of ‘many happy returns’ cards loaned by the local library.

The cards, from the 1940s, consisted of photographs on the front with a different story on the back of each. Upon receiving the cards, Residents sat in the garden and read through each, recalling memories they experienced themselves which were similar to the stories on the cards.

Memories, both amusing and interesting, were mentioned by Residents as they chatted between themselves and shared their own stories. Colleagues found their stories so interesting and thoroughly enjoyed listening to them.

Residents commented on the mischievous and funny things they done in earlier years, and remarked on how the cards had taken them back years as they recalled memories they had long forgotten.

Marita Westaway, Home Manager, commented: “a lovely afternoon was had by all as everyone shared stories and enjoyed listening to one another. Such a wonderful activity and we hope to do something similar again soon.”
