In the build-up, Residents had enjoyed a morning of creativity to pay their respects with an arts and crafts morning making their own poppy badges.

Residents, relatives enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea with many sharing stories of their family loved ones who had been involved in the war.  The home had marked the occasion in remembering the fallen heroes with hand-made poppies which displayed throughout the home.

Throughout the day Residents had also watched coverage of the remembrance events that took place across the globe on Sunday to mark 100 years since the end of the First World War.

Diane Bardsley commented:

"It was important to our Residents and colleagues that we marked the 100th anniversary and remembered the end of the first world war and the contribution of all the British and commonwealth military and civilian service men and women."
