Remembering D-Day at Guisborough care homeResidents, friends, family and members of the team at HC-One’s Park House care home in Guisborough come to together to commemorate D-Day.

On Tuesday 6th June 1944, the Normandy landings, also referred to as D-Day took place and became the largest seaborne invasion in history. The events of D-Day instigated the liberation of European countries from Nazi control and contributed to the allied victory of World War II.

Park House welcomed the One Voice Choir, who performed a wonderful war-time singalong for Residents and guests, everyone waved flags as they sang along with the choir. A representative from the Northumberland Fusiliers also visited the home to and gave an emotional remembrance speech, followed by the Last Post and the lowering of the flag. 

Everyone shared afternoon tea and remembered those who fought for our country, Residents commented that it was a lovely way to commemorate D-Day.
